The Lazybones

Who: Capt. Mike Vegessi and his wife Kathy
What: Family friendly fishing boat sailing twice daily, in local waters
Where: 474 West Lake Drive at the Salivar’s dock
Why: Mike, Kathy and crew are the best in the business
Insider tip: Bring your day’s catch to Wok ‘n’ Roll for a hassle-free feast

While the original all-wood 50-foot Lazybones was replaced with a spiffier fiberglass 55-foot number in 1997, Capt. Vegessi has stuck with the concept he’s had since first launching his biz in 1985: two half-day trips—specifically for fluke in the summer and bass/blues (by diamond-jig) in the fall—in (mostly) calm, local waters. You’ll want to give Kathy a call beforehand; the easygoing formula, beautiful boat and strong “finding fish” track record is popular with seasoned anglers and first-timers alike.
